I was just told that: "sarcasm is the lowest form of wit". It was a criticism to my admission that I recognize myself to be a sarcastic needler.
It amazes me how people do not understand sarcasm, or that wit is sarcasm. Their criticism is part of a statement made by Oscar Wilde: "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but the highest form of intelligence." Ironically, the person who criticized me with the above statement, sarcastically, took Oscar Wilde's statement out of context.
For you Christians out there that believe that sarcasm is sinful, I would say that the bible is full of sarcasm and wit. Take Acts 17 for example; was Paul being sarcastic when he compared their unknown god to God? How about Numbers 11; the people murmured for meat, so God gave it to them...
So is sarcasm sin? I don't believe so, but I am truly interested in your perspective. Give me examples, either way, and show me from the bible what you believe.
